On Good Friday , the entire church fixes their gaze on the cross at calvary. Each member of the church tries to understand at what cost christ has won their redemption. In the solemn ceremonies of Good Friday, in the Adoration of the cross, in the chanting of the 'Reproaches', in the reading of the passion ,and in receiving the pre-consecrated Host, all unite themselves to their saviour , and they contemplate their own death to sin in the Death of the lord.
Christians across the world on Good Friday commemorate jesus's arrest, trial, crucifixion and death at calvary by offering prayers and reading out Good Friday sermons in the churches on this day. This day is not considered as a day of celebration rather a day to lament christ's death. The importance of Good Friday is that 'Jesus Christ' ( God - Man ) died on the cross and brought end to the SIN & Sins of mankind. Set the whole world FREE.Broke the power of death and its sting.
Jesus Christ had paid a great price for every single soul that receive Him as lord & Saviour . The enemy of mankind the satan / Devil was judged on that day. Jesus Christ overcame him and defeated Him by His resurrection on the third day. The only SURE HOPE for humanity.Anyone in christ jesus- the fear of of death had been removed. The physical death is the threshold to enter into a glorious life.
There are different opinions on this day. Some feel sorrow for the sufferings and even give pain to themselves , while others understand that jesus offered his life so that many people could be saved . It was not that his life was taken but he himself offered his life.Usually the holidays start from Good Friday and end on Easter Monday with rejoicing and celebrating Jesus' raising after the death.
The christians honour and memorize the event, passion and suffering through which Jesus went through . Many christians spend the day fasting, offer prayers, perform meditation and most often spend the day in repentance.'
