It is ‘offset naxalism’ in Palamu: DIG

Published on:

Naxalism is in the “offset mood” here in this police range of Palamu. Senior cadres are well ensconced in their hideouts, while the raw hands mostly fresher and new to this brand of work are pressed in for the job of extremism. All for some currency notes.

DIG, Palamu Range, Vipul Shukla explained on Tuesday what “offset naxalism” is all about.  On being asked whether naxals are using mercenaries to carry out their violence like torching road making equipments, bikes of contractors, beating up construction site in charge or construction labourers etc of the contractors, the DIG said, “To call them mercenaries will be giving them a high sounding diction.

Yes it is a fact now that naxalites are using raw hands, new faces, jobless youths on temptation or inducement of some few thousands of rupees to carry out their sinister and evil designs and then these youths for lure of that money commit crime but when caught they curse their lives like anything.”

Shukla said that the “offset naxalism” in one way it is definitely naxalism by proxy. “See, a top naxalite Santosh was sitting far away in Gumla but his hired men created crime in Garhwa district’s Bhandarya police station. JJMP, TPC and PLFI are the major ones where induction of such youths is to carry out torching of vehicles.  There is no bravery in putting things afire with just a match stick. Anyone can do this. The naxal outfits are running short of hands,” he said.

When being asked whwther Maoists have come at Saryu in Latehar district after four years of long absence from there.

The DIG said, “It is true Saryu  remained free of them over the last 4 years. Last week only the Maoists struck there by torching three vehicles there engaged in road making.  Vehicles are torched where levy is not paid to them. This is no less a big resistance that naxalites are facing now forcing them to such a low and meaningless work of arson which serves none any benefit.”

When asked about Saryu where a police picket is there and a torching episode just happened barely 2 Kms away, the DIG said that Maoists had their PLGA (Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army) week from December 2 to 8. “Our boys did area domination.

Nothing happened till December 8.  On December 9 evening they came down from 30 Kms away and set afire three vehicles there. Police will teach them a good lesson very soon. We have detected each case of arson. 10 rebels have been caught too. The arrested come from PLFI, TPC and JJMP,” he added.

Being inquired that from Ramkanda police station to Bhandarya police station there is a big space say more than of 20 Kms where there is no police camp, he said that the police are going to set up a camp in just a week’s time there and that will be a thorn in flesh for the rebels.
