IPSOWA Diwali Mela 2016 kicked off on a high note with numerous cultural activities at JAP-1 ground on Friday.
Governor Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the event.
The annual fair offers vivid collections to public as artisans from across the nation participate in the event. The money collected from the fair is utilized for various social purposes like scholarship, aiding ‘Divyang’ people, providing training to poor people and others.
Appreciating the initiatives of IPSOWA, the Governor said, “The programme of IPSOWA members are worth appreciating. Great social activists are remembered even now for their contribution to the society, hence the initiative of police officers’ wives are helpful in many ways, especially in upliftment of the downtrodden and linking deprived public to the mainstream.
“We must contribute to the growth and development of society. Women had often performed well in different areas, if provided an opportunity. IPSOWA members are the example of this and have proved their mettle time and again. IPSOWA members must also come forward and impart education on various social issues to create awareness among the denizens,” added Murmu.
