Palamu police nabbed two Mirtunjay and Vikas and sent them to central jail today in the April 24 case of assault of the family members of a jeweller Chunnu Soni in Harihurganj.
SP Indrajeet Mahatha said there were 4 involved in this assault case where a son of Soni died also while Soni’s wife, daughter and one other son remained hospitalized for weeks in BHU hospital in Varansi.
The four of Soni’s family were hit with knife and hammer only in their head!
SP said Soni’s one relative Pankaj was an IPl bookie who had so arranged the assault with three others for gold and silver in Soni’s house as this bookie was under debt of 18 lakhs of rupees in stock jobbery of IPl matches .
However Pankaj remained empty handed as there was nothing valuable in Soni’s house for him to get his debt liquidated and so in utter frustration he committed suicide by jumping before a train after 10 days of the Soni house assault crime.
SP said only one criminal of this assault episode is at large.
The family has been provided police guards.
