An introspection is on as to where the preparation and conduct of the first ever Senate meeting of Nilamber Pitamber university after 8 years of its inception just went haywire said sources.
Sources said as far as the arrangement of this meeting is concerned it was simple, impressive but far from extravagant as the venue NIC Betla with all its facilities cost this university a mere four thousand of rupees (`4,000) where for the same venue in any hotel or hall it would have cost the university `60,000 to `70,000. There was a modest care and comfort of all the senators.
Sources said as regards the conduct of this meeting it was a witty one between a veteran MlA Radha Krishan Kishore the senator and the VC SN Singh chairperson of this meeting.
The senate meeting where the budget ranging from the period 2008 -09 to 2016 -17 was put in limbo by Kishore and his brigade of five others has sent out a message in public domain that all ‘may not be well with the financial transaction of this university.’
Kishore said, “Hum pichhla budget kaise approve kar diye the. (How did I used to approve the previous budgetIJ) University had given us a 584 page volume of its activities. It requires a good deal of time to peruse it.”
He further said, “I believe that granting no approval to this period budget does not mean or should not mean to anyone that some financial misconduct has happened while the point is perusal of these budgets is needed before giving it approval tag’.
VC SN Singh too had conceded that university’s volumes ought to have reached senators much ahead of the meeting. He said it would be taken care of in future.
S N Singh VC said ‘ Utilisation certificates (UCs) of advances made by this university are wanting in many cases of advances for which the university has been making repeated and persistent pressure on people to file the UCs. There are some coordinators, who have been given advances for arranging evaluation of answer books, preparation of marks folio etc and if these are not given advances work does not start at all and here the university finds itself in no win situation as without advances work is a non starter and once advances are made UCs do not come in time’.
Sources said the popular perception was that Kishore would help sail this university in this meeting as his contribution to setting up of this university here is well known but his role reversal in the meeting has made the university officials far more alert, meticulous in planning and sensitive to issues.
