Internet facility of schools to be toned up: DC

Poor access to internet in the Sohree Khas upgraded plus two school under Satbarwa block forces school teachers to climb a palash tree there to get internet facility in the official tablet provided to the school.

A science teacher of the school A K Gupta said access to internet is very difficult here and as such we teachers are to climb a palash tree for Internet connectivity.  He said it is 2 G facility here and that too is most erratic and missing.

Gupta said failure of access to Internet makes us to depend on the old attendance register in the school where six teachers working here mark their presence in the attendance register.

Had there been easy and long access to internet here teachers of the school would have done biometric attendance.

DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari when told of these hardships of teachers and non availability of internet said, “We will definitely try to overcome this. We will explore if the SIM in the official tablet so given to this school can be changed by some other service provider. Portability of SIM of this tablet may lessen such a problem.  There are locations where access to Internet gets hard.”

Agrahari further said as Palamu is a LWE ( left wing extremist) hit district there is to come a range of cellular towers here and administration will see that Satbarwa too gets a high frequency tower to enable 4G facility here and in its adjoining areas.

A tablet was given to this school on September 25 but since then this problem of no Internet is gripping the teachers of the school.Gupta said, “Internet connection comes but for a wink of an eyelid. It blinks and blinks and then goes off completely. Our school has a double storeyed structure but even on the first floor this Internet access is not available. If at all access comes it is on the palash tree. This tree is now our most precious for us.”

DC Palamu said, “I have directed my block level officials to find out if problem like this exists in other schools located in the far flung areas of the district and at the foot hill also.”
