Intermittent showers play spoilsport on Diwali

The light rainfall at a regular interval that played a spoilsport on ‘Diwali’ night, forcing the denizens to confine themselves inside their abodes is likely to continue for another two days. Similarly, the weather condition post ‘Diwali’ on Friday also remained the same when drizzle being reported at a regular break in the Capital bringing business to a standstill.

Weathermen claimed that due to creation of deep depression at Bay of Bengal and costal Odisha, the situation is likely to remain same till Saturday and will eventually get to normal by October 22.

Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Director, B K Mondal said “The deep depression formed at Bay of Bengal and costal Odisha is currently influencing the weather condition, however its movement indicates that it is heading towards the North-Eastern States that will eventually shift the cloud formation bringing respite. The affect of deep depression is likely to continue till today covering entire Jharkhand.”

“Also, moisture incursion will continue for another 24 hours and hence the system is likely to maintain its intensity. Ranchi and a few other adjoining districts may only receive drizzle but heavy rainfall will particularly lash isolated places including NE belts of the State that includes districts like Jamtara, Sahibganj, Jamtara, Pakur, Deogarh,” Mondal said.

According to the weather experts, rainfall occurrence rate may record up till 6 mm. Still, Mondal assured that the temperature level will not fall further bringing the early winter chill feel as moisture content level will settle down as soon as the pressure of deep depression gets over here. On Friday, Ranchi recorded 19.2 mm rainfall while Jamshedpur and Daltonganj registered 23.0 mm rainfall and 15.0 mm rainfall respectively.
