The state education department has been urged to take a final call on continuation of intermediate teaching in the constituent colleges across Jharkhand.
Teachers and non teaching personnel on contract and in service since around two decades fear joblessness if the intermediate teaching is disengaged from the constituent colleges under the New Education Policy.
An atmosphere of doubt and uncertainty prevails here on this front as there are 2 constituent colleges in Daltonganj and just one in Garhwa where intermediate teaching goes on for sessions after sessions.
A delegation of teachers and staff of the intermediate section of the constituent colleges met the interim VC of the Nilamber Pitamber university Daltonganj Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya on Thursday and sought his help.
Dr Shandilya heard them with patience and assured to have a talk with the secretary higher education Rahul Kumar Purwar in this connection.
The interim VC was discreet enough not to offer them any plethora of promises but he succeeded in winning their trust that this issue matters most to him.
There has been no letter to this effect from the government except minutes of the meeting of RUSA wherein it was resolved to delink and where there is the problem to phase it out in three years.
