After about a month-long silence, the Chief Minister ‘Jan Shikayat Koshang’ is all set to witness public hearing evident by the hustle and bustle at the office situated in the campus of sprawling CM Secretariat. Since the formation of the Government people’s expectations from the Head of the elected representatives has started drawing them to the doorstep of the cell.
According to an official, the grievance cell is receiving 100 complaints a day especially after the new CM Rabhubar Das assumed office. However, preparations are being made without any communication with regard to the hearing by the newly sworn-in CM. “We never stopped working. We have been receiving complaints always. Now we have a new CM so this is obvious that the hearing will begin but we are not sure of the date of commencement of the exercise,” said Deputy Secretary of the cell, Manohar Marandi.
The public grievance cell has not witnessed hearing since elections which doesn’t seem possible before Das formally enters the house allotted to a CM. Other highly placed sources said that the CM was waiting for Kharmaas—an inauspicious month according to Hindu calendar—to end to enter the official residence and begin interaction with the people having hopes to get their problems resolved at the doorstep of the mightiest man in Jharkhand.
Nonetheless, the deficiency at one end is likely to be compensated by organising a hearing camp at the other end. The CM heard problems of the public at party office in the first ever interaction between Das and those who attended the camp organised on January 17. Das is likely to spent about 3 hours to listen the grievances put up for his ‘Jan Shikayat Koshang’.
