Integrated portal on school education soon

Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has moved one step closer to have all the information related to Government-run schools in State in a single web portal. According to senior officials of JEPC the Council has got mapping part done by Jharkhand Space Applications Centre (JSAC) and it is busy in getting data overlapped, making this entire process functional through single portal by anytime in October this year.

Through GIS mapping, the Council has come to know about exact number of students and teachers coming to school daily, the distance between two schools, infrastructure available in the school and all the data related to functioning of schools that could stop any discrepancy once the data is overlapped on a single portal. State Project Director of JEPC Mukesh Kumar said that the overlapping of various data received was most crucial part of the project.

“We did have fragmented data about all this. And because it remained fragmented, we were unable to stop discrepancies taking place. We have seen students on cards and not coming to schools but taking all the benefits from government. We have seen teachers bunking classes and getting attendances done. This all will be impossible once these data are overlapped, for which process is already on from some days,” said Kumar.

He added that getting Aadhaar linked Bank Account for some 40 lakh students of the state remained a huge task. “First, getting Aadhaar card for all the students is a big task. Same is to have bank accounts of all of them. Then comes the work of linking Aadhaar with bank accounts. That is why we are working on multiple fronts altogether,” Kumar added.

He said that the Council has targeted to get Aadhaar enrollment by August 15 and to get up to 90 per cent account opened by mid-September. “By October 2, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, we are trying to get all the accounts linked with Aadhaar and make the portal functional,” he said. Meanwhile, data verification through offline mode was also taking place side-by-side.

However, he said that real time assessment would take some time, as verifying and uploading so many data on one platform was a challenging task. “It would need all data on a portal that runs smoothly,” said Kumar. He showed optimism to get all these done by October.
