Instability huge hurdle in development: Raman Singh

Published on:

Pitching in along with the BJP stalwarts to woo voters in Jharkhand, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh on Friday said that the political instability has been a major hurdle in the progress and development of Jharkhand. This has been one of the prime reasons why the State failed to meet the aspirations of people even after 14 years of its establishment.

Singh, who was on a roller coaster ride campaigning here at Sonari Ram Mandir Ground, said that the people of the State should choose a single party government and give absolute majority.

“Though both Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand were made separate states together but due to political instability Jharkhand lagged behind. However, the time has come the people should vote for a single party in the coming assembly polls only then we can think of stability and ensure progress. The instability has played spoiled sport and we need to ensure a stable government,” said the leader.

Drawing comparisons with his home State, Dr Singh said that Jharkhand is rich in mineral resources and has the capability to become number one State in the country. The people of Jharkhand should vote for a majority BJP government in the state if they want to see development at par with Chhatisgarh.

He went on to add that a coalition government is no more a solution here as this mineral-rich state has made no progress.

About 3,000 people had gathered at the rally which was meant to garner support for the party’s Jamshedpur West candidate Sarayu Roy.

Sharing the success stories, he said that at the time Chhatisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh, the state was known as a most backward state.  People of the state used to die of starvation and about 15 lakh people would leave the state to other states in search of daily wages.  But the state is now Chhatisgarh is a food-grain surplus state and supplying rice as well as electricity to  four neighbouring states.

While speaking on the development of Chhatisgarh, he pointed out he did not want to give a success story of Chhatisgarh, but he said all this because the state has a BJP government since the past 11 years.  He said the development of any state can be achieved only when there is a stable government and the stability cannot be brought about through a coalition government.

Since a large number of the local audience were basically from Chhatisgarh, Singh also addressed in the Chhatisgarhi dialect also and urged them to cast their votes en block to the BJP candidate if they all wanted their all front development.

Earlier, the BJP state president Ravindra Rai who was also present at the dais observed that this Assembly election is a turning point for the future of Jharkhand.
