Now India Post has joined the Centre’s noble crusade of energy efficient lighting in a bid to save electricity; started sell of lED bulbs at subsidized rate at head post office Bokaro on Thursday.
The lED bulbs are available at Rs85, the price of the same is higher in the market, said Postmaster SN Mitra adding “Very soon bulbs would be available at all district post offices”.
Anyone who wants to buy lED bulb have to bring any identity card or electricity bill; one can buy a maximum of 10 bulbs, said Mitra.
By end of this month sales of lED bulbs will begin in around 200 post offices in the state while by July all 3200 post offices will begin selling the lED bulbs, he said.
Notably, our country could save up to US$6 billion per year under the Government’s current plan to switch to light-emitting diode (lED) light bulbs by 2018. In January 2015, the Prime Minister Modi launched the National Program for lED-based Home and Street lighting.
