The Congress on Monday came down heavily against the BJP-led NDA in power at the Centre for allegedly suppressing all voices against it and of the whistleblowers exposing corrupt practices. Citing example of unabated deaths taking place in the infamous ‘Vyapam’ scam in Madhya Pradesh of the concerned persons, the party equated the situation with the Emergency.“The way killings and deaths are taking place of those who have been the beneficiaries of the Vyapam scam and of those who were involved into it or of the whistleblowers; it raises suspicions that all such voices rising against the MP Chief Minister would be silenced. Even a journalist has succumbed to it in mysterious circumstances. Similar cases of malpractices are coming out in Chhattisgarh but the Government of ‘suit-boot’ is protecting those involved. We believe that the Modi Government is taking the country towards undeclared Emergency,” said AICC spokesperson Ajay Kumar at a press meet here on Monday.
Kumar while coming to his agenda, also named recent controversies hanging around the one-year old Government and questioned silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issues relating to lalit Modi, Pankaja Munde and Smriti Irani, to name a few.“People of the country had selected a Prime Minister but he turned out to be Vasco Da Gama. He has all the time in the world to tweet about national days of Nigeria, Mozambique but turns ‘mauni baba’ on the issues concerning people back home. lives of 75 lakh aspirants belonging to poor families have been spoiled in the Vyapam scam in which Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, his wife and family members are directly involved but he is silent. Evidences against ration scam in Chhattisgarh have come out against Chief Minister Raman Singh but he is silent. He has no tweet to share about the lalit-Gate, Pankaja Munde and Smriti Irani. Before coming to power he said, ‘na khaunga-na khane dunga’ but in fact it turned out to be another ‘jumla’ and he is indulged in ‘khanewale ko bachaunga’,” added the former MP from Jamshedpur.
The party, on the occasion, demanded that a CBI probe be immediately ordered into the Vyapam scam as the SIT set up by the State Government was too lethargic.Kumar also raised questions over passive judiciary and apprehended that it may be because names of some judges have also surfaced in the case. “We also think that since the name of MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has come into all this, he should himself resign from the post,” added Kumar.PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat drew an inference from MoS Jayant Sinha’s quote in the MlAs workshop on Sunday in which he had reportedly blamed rampant corruption in Jharkhand which was eating up the major chunk of the fund coming in.
