Concession in refund rule

Concession has been granted once again in the refund rules for reserved tickets issued for regular trains canceled by the Railways in the interest of passengers due to Covid-19. It is to be noted that for the convenience of the passengers who have booked the reserved journey tickets for regular trains before the announcement of the postponement of the train operations, Indian Railways provided a facility to get full refund for the next 06 months from the date of travel by giving relaxation in ticket refund rules. In this series, the concession time in ticket refund rules for full refund of reserved tickets for the journey period from March 21, 2020 to July 31, 2020 has been increased by three months. Passengers, who are unable to avail full refund in case of PRS counters so far, the concession deadline for full refund has been extended from 06 months to 09 months before the travel date. In case of e-tickets, there is a system of automatic refund. There is a provision for cancellation of reserved ticket issued by PRS counter through 139 or through IRCTC website. In such cases, refund can be obtained from any PRS counter within nine months from the date of journey, providing necessary information after cancellation of ticket.
