In Jharkhand, NaMo a clear choice for PM

Be it women, youth or farmers and people from rural areas of Jharkhand, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is an unequivocal choice for the top post for the country after 2014 general elections. Taking forward the nationwide trend the latest opinion poll survey has projected 225 seats for the party and worst ever defeat for the Congress which would reduce it to just 95 seats.

The survey conducted by Hindusthan Samachar, a news agency, covering 242 lok Sabha constituencies among 22 States says that 74.33 per cent of voters of rural areas and farmers of Jharkhand want the Gujarat Chief Minister to lead the country. While the figure for women supporting Modi for the coveted post is 64.11 per cent.

Support for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the race is very dismal in the tribal State with just 21.5 per cent of women voters in his favour for the Prime Minister’s job. Rahul, projected as youth leader, is not popular among younger generation. Just 12.86 per cent of youth in the State want the Gandhi scion to lead the nation while the support crosses 77 per cent for the BJP’s candidate. 4,124 voters - 3,143 male and 981 female - took part in the survey in Jharkhand.

Talking about the State Government’s performance, the survey, released on Sunday, shows 75 per cent voters dissatisfied with. Nationally, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is shown crossing the halfway mark and expected to secure seats anything between 250 and 280. While the incumbent UPA would get not above 130 seats. More heartening for the BJP in the survey is its performance in those States where it has been on margins over the years. States like West Bengal, Kerala and fringe areas have shown considerable improve in the party’s tally. Voters have also shown their dissent with sitting MPs and 52 per cent of them want to replace their representative in the polls.

The BJP, in the leadership of Modi, is expected to present a good show in Uttar Pradesh by securing 40-45 seats out of 80 while in Bihar the party would win 20-15 seats.
