Jharkhand Babus no longer need to visit boutiques or dental clinics since they have got in-house facility of fashion designers and dentists who have recently joined as clerks in the Jharkhand Secretariat.
let alone fashion technologists and dentists, hundreds of tech-savvy graduate engineers, MCAs, BCAs, M Scs, MBAs, bio-technologists and law graduates have also joined as assistants in the Jharkhand Secretariat.
The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission had advertised for vacant posts of assistants in the Jharkhand Secretariat Services following which over 2 lakh candidates applied. After the preliminary and main examinations conducted in the last quarter of 2012, the commission recommended recruitment of 577 clerks.
Of the total recommended candidates, only 532 have finally joined different departments of the government of Jharkhand till date. Of the total new recruits, over 100 clerks have degrees ranging from B.Tech in mechanical, chemical, electrical, electronics, computer science to MBAs, masters in science subjects like mathematics, physics besides tens of clerks who are qualified fashion designers and dentists. Now Jharkhand Secretariat can also boast of clerks who have masters degree in English and law.
Talking to The Pioneer, personnel secretary Aditya Swarup said the lucrative salary structure has attracted highly qualified people to join as clerks. The starting gross salary is about Rs 35,000, he said. Graduate engineers initially get much lesser salaries in the corporate world, but after a few years their salaries increase manifold. May be the job security has attracted the tech-savvy candidates to the corridors of Jharkhand Secretariat, Swarup said. The recruits can get promoted up to the rank of joint secretaries, he added.
