New Depts established at DSPMU
In pursuance of directions from Governor cum Chancellor, vice chancellor of Dr SPM University has established six different departments under the tribal and regional languages department. The new departments would be 1. Khortha, Ho, Santhali and Panchpargania headed by Dr Binod Kumar 2.Kurmali headed by Dr PP Mahto 3. Nagpuri headed by LS Shahdeo 4. Kharia headed by Juel Soreng 5. Kurukh headed by Ramdas Oraon and 6. Mundari headed by TNS Munda. The present head of tribal and regional languages department Dr Binod Kumar will co-ordinate the heads of the different departments, according to a release issued by Dr SPM University registar.
Media Debate at Gossner
A debate titled ‘Media is Creating Problems for the Youth’ was organized among the first batch students of BA Mass Communication and Video Production, Gossner College on Saturday. Speakers from six groups representing 57 students spoke for and against the motion. A rebuttal round was followed after each speech. The top three positions were bagged by Neha, Navneet and Mansi while Angel and Alex were chosen for consolation prizes.
Sci-Fi Fashion Walk at SBPS
Observing the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, SBPS, Ranchi organized the Science Fiction Fashion Futurista & Soundscape in the school campus. To begin with one of the ideas of Gandhiji- ‘use of waste materials’, the fashion walk was organized in which the pupils wore attires made up of waste materials. The four houses chose the characters to represent from science fiction books like ‘Martian’, ‘Bicentennial Man’, ‘The Time Machine’ and ‘Nineteen Eighty- Four’. The event included live music which was performed by the students using waste materials and daily use items like utensils, buckets, sticks etc. The judges for the event were Deepak Sinha, Director, PAZEB, a fashion designer and news correspondent, Doordarshan, Kamal Sharma, Director, DO-RE-ME Music Academy and Kaushik Roy.
