ED I/C RDCIS, SAIL unveils upgraded Pot Sintering Unit
ED I/C, RDCIS Ajay Arora inaugurated the upgraded Pot Sintering Unit in presence of other Chief General Managers and senior officials. RDCIS carried out the graduation of the Pot Sintering Unit by incorporating an automated data capturing system which would help in simulation of Sintering process in the Plant in more precise manner and minimise human error. This automation would capture temperature, pressure and gas composition of the pot sinter at a regular interval automatically. Additional facilities have also been provided to add hot air and steam in the sinter mix to improve the performance of the process. In the upgraded facility, two new types of Pots of smaller dimensions viz. Pencil pot and transparent pot have also been added. This variation would facilitate experimentation with less quantity of material requiring less manpower. In the transparent pot, the sintering process can be visualised which would help in understanding the process better.
