IMA bats for Medical Protection Act

Published on:

Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jharkhand State has urged the state government to take an early decision on the implementation of Medical Protection and Clinical Establishment Act in State. IMA State President Dr. Arun Kumar Singh said in a press conference on Sunday at the IMA House that cooperation was expected from the state government regarding the Medical Protection Act, but till now only assurance has come, as no decision has been taken on this. There is repeated obstruction in the state regarding this. Doctors are getting harassed. Incidents of fighting and vandalism are happening in hospitals. It seems that there is a deliberate delay in implementation of medical protection bill. In fact, its implementation in the state will benefit doctors as well as patients. State Secretary of IMA, Jharkhand State Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Treasurer Dr. BP Kashyap, besides Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Dr. Abhishek Ramdheen, Dr. Mrityunjay Singh and many doctors from different districts were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Arun Kumar Singh said that the Medical Protection Act was brought on the table of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. But after putting some hurdles it has been sent to the Select Committee. This has caused delay in its implementation. In fact, a decision should have been taken on this soon. Vacancies emerge for doctors in the state, but doctors do not turn up as expected. The reason for this is that the absence of the Medical Protection Act here is also important. According to Dr. Singh, agitation is the last way. We do not want to take any such step which will affect the health services. In such a situation, the government should take a quick decision on their issues. Clinical Establishment Act is also necessary Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh demanded from the government that the Clinical Establishment Act also needs to be implemented soon in the state. It has to be made more practical. In the current situation, it is fine for selected big hospitals, but it is a bigger problem for small hospitals and clinics in remote areas.

This act has been implemented in many states. Right now the power of civil surgeons has also been given to the DC. The government should trust the surgeons. Due to this not happening, the applications for hospitals, loan clinics are lying in the DC office for a long time. The government should show seriousness in bringing this act to the ground. TA-DA IMA representative Dr. Mrityunjay Singh, who met the Shravani fair, demanded from the government on the spot that 11 eye doctors have been asked to constitute Form-A by the government. It has also been decided to stop five increments, which is unfair. They are being punished without proper charges. The government should consider this again. The duty of doctors in the Shravani fair has been going on since the separation of the state. But they have never been paid TA, DA. The government should show seriousness on this matter.
