Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi is going to launch a five year integrated MBA course. Under the course, Class XII or intermediate pass students will get entry to study in MBA course. IIM Ranchi will be the second institute after IIM Indore to launch such courses, while other institutes (IIM) offer post graduate MBA courses after graduation.
A faculty member of IIM Ranch requesting anonymity said, “IIM Ranchi from next academic session 2021-22 is going to launch a five year integrated MBA course. The course has been designed in such a way that students after completing the course will get both graduation as well as post graduate degree.” The faculty member said, “The course is divided into two parts. The first part is three years called the foundation while the second two years will focus entirely on management.”
The IIM Ranchi is presently functioning from its transit campus Soochna Bhawan, while work is going on its permanent campus at HEC. In 2016, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi received ownership rights for land plot sprawling over 60.04 acres in HEC area.
Recently, member of Rajya Sabha, Parimal Nathwani inaugurated the first building of the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi. The building is fully air-conditioned auditorium which has capacity to accommodate about 650 people at a time with all modern IT facilities of audio-video support.
The integrated program in management is a full five-year course. It will be equivalent to an MBA after completing it. There will be a total of 15 terms in this course. Every year, three terms will be of three months duration. The course is divided into two parts. The first part is three years called the foundation. The second two years, according to the institute, focus entirely on management.
The course is a mixture of management and social science. During the foundation, students will be taught Sociology, Psychology, Literature, Fine Arts, Humanities, Maths, Economics, Statistics and Political Science. Students also have to undergo a social internship upon completion of two years.
Meanwhile, students have welcomed the decision of IIM management to launch a five year integrated course in MBA. Sherya Shree, a Class XI student at Bridgeford School said, “Students from the state will be benefited with the launch of five year integrated MBA course. Now a student like engineering and medicine can plan their career after completing XII studies.”
It is noteworthy that IIM Ranchi is going to start another course next year. The institute will start a business analytics course from June 2021, which will be a two-year MBA course. There are currently PhD courses in MBA, MBA HR and Management. MBA in Business Analytics will also be added to these. This will help the students to gain a basic and practical knowledge of analytics.
