Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi celebrated its 12th Foundation Day on Tuesday at its soon to be new campus in HEC Area Ranchi in an event which combined both online and offline modes of participation.
The event was graced by the Harivansh, Deputy Chairman- Rajya Sabha as Chief Guest, and Raju Bista, Member of Parliament and MD Surya Roshni Limited, as Guest of Honour of the event. Praveen Shankar Pandya, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Ranchi, Prof. Shailendra Singh, Director, IIM, Ranchi and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
In his speech, the chief guest of the event, Harivansh disclosed his strong connection with the city of Ranchi as it was his home city. He expressed his happiness that IIM, Ranchi was established in the State and that it is finally expected to move to the permanent campus very soon. He noted that Jharkhand has exceptional natural and human resources and institutions. He expected that with the establishment of prominent educational institutions like IIT, AIIMS and IIM Ranchi, in Jharkhand would propel it to a leading position as an educational hub. He expressed that institutions like IIM, Ranchi have the duty to provide the necessary skill to the youth of the country to take up new ventures in a wide range of areas rather than limiting themselves as business managers.
He said, “IIM Ranchi has achieved the status of Centre of Excellence in a very short span of time.” He showed immense respect and appreciation towards IIM Ranchi’s vision, mission, core values, and logo. He added that IIM Ranchi will gain many good opportunities to work in Jharkhand as the tribal culture is very open and expansive. He also stated that IIM Ranchi will prove to be centre of excellence for world class education.
The Director of the Institute, Prof. Shailendra Singh discussed the journey of the Institute since its establishment and how it has moved to be one of the leading educational institutions of the country. He added that IIM Ranchi started with 40 students, 1 program and 12 teachers and now the IIM Fraternity has grown upto 46 faculty members, 5 programs and more than 600 students.
Raju Bista, MP and MD Surya Roshni Limited, said, “We should continuously learn and never stop learning. There is no age bar to learn new things in life. He also said that post Covid period is going to open up lot of opportunities to the world. He also appreciated that role of mother and she is the first financial guru for any kid and we can learn a lot of management lessons from her.”
Praveen Shankar Pandya, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Ranchi said, “IIM Ranchi has continuously performed excellently even when they did not have a permanent campus which is commendable in itself.” The Institute felicitated Dr. Jayanta KumarTripathy, Librarian IIM Ranchi on his completion of 10 years of Journey at IIM Ranchi.
