The Giridih police here while patrolling with the CRPF have recovered huge cache of explosive from a house of Shankar Thakur at Karihari village under the Velwaghati police station. On Friday late night the police had recovered 50 kg gelatin gel,17 detonators and 1,050 meters wire and other equipments.
According to officer in-charge of Velwaghati police station, Ram lal Orawn, acting on a tip-off along with CRPF and local police conducted a raid in the house of Shankar Thakur late in the night on Friday and seized gelatin gel, wire, detonators of different bores wrapped in a plastic bag. The chemicals indicate that it was kept there only a few days ago, police said.
The police said Shankar Thakur managed to flee taking advantage of dense forest but the police successfully busted his house in the village.The area where the explosives was unearthed was the under the influence of Maoists.
