A high tension (HT) power line passing through the land allotted for the construction of the permanent campus of IIM–R has come as a big hurdle now.
General Manager, IIM-R Campus development, S K Mathur, said on Tuesday that though all the mandatory proceedings for allotting land to IIM-R are on the verge of completion, but there are few issues which need to be tackled before the final deed of conveyance is signed between the government and the premier B-school.
“The most vital of all the issue is shifting the high tension line which is intercepting the area, demarcated for constructing permanent campus,” he added.
“There are three important issues which need to be sorted out before we further proceed. A high tension line is passing/intercepting the allotted area for the campus, covering 30 to 40 per cent of land which is the main issue and needs immediate attention,” said the General Manager.
“While other issues include two unauthorized buildings constructed at the site. This apart, villagers are also pleading to leave some land for a graveyard. These issues can be sorted out as we can do away with the graveyard land as it is located in the side and the main campus can be constructed leaving the specific area,” added Mathur.
The New IIM-R campus will come up at HEC, near CRPF camp soon. On December 28, a team of site selection committee from Union HRD and IIM board visited the proposed site for the management institute and has approved 60 acres land for the purpose.
Ranchi DC Manoj Kumar has also assured that the procedures so far have been cleared from the Government side. “Authorities too are concerned and have assured us to resolve all the matter which is creating hindrances. The union HRD Secretary has also written to Chief Secretary of the state on the issue,” said Mathur.
