Train services on the Howrah-Mumbai route will be disrupted for the next few days owing to track repairing work at different railway stations under the Kharagpur railway division of South Eastern Railway (SER).
Several long distance passenger trains were delayed due to the work. The Howrah-Ranchi Inter City Express was running about one hour late and was made to run through a diverted route. The Howrah-Purulia Express ( Dn) had to be short-terminated today at Kharagpur instead of Howrah. Railway officials said that similar schedule will be followed till June 11.
Other trains running behind schedule were the Howrah-Ahmedabad Express, the Jnaneswari Express, the Howrah-Hapa Express and the Sambleshwari Express. “We are taking necessary measures to ensure that passengers were not affected. But the repair work is equally important,” said the officials.
