Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi was in eye of storm in State Assembly as members from Opposition as well treasury benches asking unpleasant questions pertaining to his department. Raising a query of malnutrition among children in the state, BJP MLA from Chatarpur, Radha Krishna Kishore pointed out that there are around 45 per cent children in the age below five years, who are malnourished; similarly around 70 per cent children are anaemic in state.
Ramchandra Chandravanshi accepted the figure made by lawmaker Radha Krishna Kishore but failed to explain government initiative is solving the issue.
However, MLA, Kishore said, “If the figure is correct, the government should explain why despite running several schemes in health sector, the government has failed to check malnutrition and anemia among children.” The issue witnessed heated discussion between Kishore and Chandravanshi, with Kishore even saying that the minister unable to take up the issue of health department. Members from both opposition and treasury benches enjoyed the heated discussion between two BJP lawmakers. Kishore even went on saying that Chandravanshi is so lucky that whichever government is in State, a ministerial berth is reserved for him.
Replying to Kishore’s remark, Chandravanshi said that he is a minister since 1995 and he had served as minister even in united Bihar, but, Kishore is unlucky that he has not become Minister ever in any government.
Both Kishore and Chandravanshi come from Palamu division, while Kishore represents Chhatarpur Assembly segament, Chandravanshi has been representing Bishrampur in Palamu for past two decades.
Apart from Kishore, Vimla Pradhan, Joba Manjhi and Jagarnath Mahto too asked questions of health from Chandravanshi. Raising the question, Vimla Pradhan asked the Minister that despite setting up Public Health Centre (PHC) at Simdega’s Kersai block there is no regular appointment of medical officials and staff, due to which patients from Kersai block had to go to Kurdeg.
Raising similar issue, Joba Manjhi stated that Community Health Centre (CHC) at Gudri is suffering from lack of basic infrastructure and the patients from concerned PHC have to visit to Sonua for treatment.
