Hotwar road makeover ahead of SAF meet

Published on:

The sports authority of Jharkhand is trying to make-over the approach road to Hotwar Sports Complex for the 2nd South Asian Federation (SAF) Junior Athletics Championships to be held from November 10 at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium at Hotwar, Ranchi.

Only four days are left for another big ticket event but the authorities seem to be heading towards committing another big mistake similar to the one made during East Zone Athletics Championships.

Interestingly, authorities in the name of preparations were apparently busy in cosmetic measures like putting green patches around the sports complex in place and sprinkling water to make barren areas green which incidentally is done every time a big event is organised at the complex.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a security official pointed out that preparations are moving at its pace but lot more is still need to be done to save Jharkhand from another embarrassment. The place which will be center of attraction during the event is still waiting for a proper security arrangement as anyone can enter the complex without getting frisked for objects potentially dangerous for the installation and people who will throng the place to see the events.

The preparations looked concentrated at the periphery of the sports complex

as the authorities have demarcated parking spaces for

vehicles.
