State Sports Academies which were supposed to be established at Hotwar and Morhabadi by June-July this year is still a matter of discussion for the Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department.
Speaking on the matter, Department Secretary Vandana Dadel said, “We have not floated the decision yet but are working on preparing a power point presentation on these academies which would be shown before the Chief Secretary. The advertisements seeking tenders from different corporate houses will be published soon. We also have to work on the Model of this project. Further, development inputs over this issue would be given after June 20.”
“The construction of these academies will probably take time. Expecting the established academies by July is not yet sure. The bidding for the tenders has not been done yet,” said Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department Director Ashok Kumar.
On March 8, then Secretary of this department Ajay Kumar Singh had informed The Pioneer that these sports academies would be opened on private-public partnership basis by June-July this year. He had also conceded that the previous cabinet meeting, held during December last year, had approved the terms and conditions.
The sports academies would comprise 15 disciplines of sports. Hostels and Stadiums would be made at both these sports arenas. The Jharkhand Infrastructure Development Corporation (JINFRA) is working as consultant for this project.
