The district consumer forum has slapped a fine of Rs 2 lakh on a private hospital in a case of medical negligence which took place in 2011 in which the victim was wrongly treated and her condition got critical after the operation.
The forum ordered to pay the fine amount to the City Center Bokaro Steel city based Survoday Hospital administration within next 45 days to the victim.
The case dates back to 17 July 2011 when Mausmi Dutta a resident of Sector 4 C quarter no. 2285, was admitted to the hospital and the doctor wrongly operated her gallbladder. Dutta alleged that since doctor was negligent towards her the condition got critical after the operation and later she filed a case against the doctor RP Srivastva, the one of the owners of the hospital.
After the operation Dutta did not get relief and later she rushed to Kolkatta-based Kothari hospital where doctors found that there was a leakage in patient’s gallbladder which resulted in extreme pain. The investigations into the case found the allegation was correct and the forum slapped a fine on the hospital.
