Three days have passed since the accident in the under-construction tunnel of the Srisailam tunnel canal project in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana, but the chances of survival of the 8 trapped workers still seem very low. The rescue team is making continuous efforts, but no success has been achieved so far.
A team of 'Rat Miners' involved in the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation in Uttarakhand has been deployed to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel. Apart from this, 584 skilled workers of Army, Navy, NDRF, SDRF and Singareni Collieries are engaged in this operation.
The rescue team inspected the tunnel 7 times, but there is difficulty in moving forward due to water and iron rods. The work of cutting iron rods with gas cutter is going on continuously. The help of search dogs was also taken, but due to the presence of water, they could not move forward.
On Saturday morning, a part of the tunnel of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project suddenly collapsed. Many workers working there at the time of the accident were rescued, but 8 workers are still missing. The rescue team is trying its best, but no contact has been established so far. As time passes, the hope of saving the workers is diminishing, but the rescue workers are still not giving up hope.
