The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday briefly heard the quashing petition of Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel. The court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi deferred the hearing till May 5 after the complainant sought time from the court to file his reply. The court directed no coercive action against her till the petition is disposed of.

The case dates back to 2017 when Ameesha Patel came to Ranchi to attend a programme at Harmu ground. Here she met businessman cum film producer Ajay Kumar Singh and she discussed with him the financing of a film. Singh owns Lovely World Entertainment.

Singh invested in the filmmaking project. But after the project did not materialize, he demanded Amisha Patel return his money. She returned the Rs 2.50 Crore amount through cheque. But the cheque bounced and Ameesha Patel despite repeated requests allegedly did not return his money.

Singh said that he met Ameesha Patel in 2017 at a public function in Ranchi. In 2018, the actress called him to seek money. Singh gave her Rs 2.5 Crore on the condition that she will pay 3% interest every month.

But she failed to pay that interest amount as her cheques bounced. She then assured him to return his entire money in six months of time. But she again failed to do so. She again told Singh that she would give him the credit of a producer for her film Desi Magic. But despite repeated talk and assurances, she did nothing to return her money. He ultimately lodged a complaint against her.
