Hemant Soren's all-party meet a damp squib

Published on:

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday held a meeting of coalition partners.

The meeting was called a day ahead of the crucial meeting with the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on the provision in the land Acquisition bill and its ramifications.

Although all coalition partners were invited, only Rashtriya Janta Dal and few Independents took part in the meeting which was called to ensure interparty communication on several issues.

Interestingly, members of the Congress snubbed the CM as no party leader attended the meeting. Senior Congress party members were in Hazaribagh to take part in the division level conference.“We are in Hazaribagh so we cannot attend the meeting,” said Congress Spokesperson Shailesh Sinha. Interestingly, Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch MlA Bandhu Tirkey expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which CM invited constituents of the coalition Government.

“This is not the way to call meeting. Being a small party we have no say in the agenda so there is no point in attending the meeting,” said Tirkey.  The RJD members to attend the meeting were Minister Annapurna Devi and State RJD president Girinath Singh.
