Ravaged by Naxal activities, Jharkhand is gradually turning into a safe zone for terror outfits including the infamous Indian Mujahideen and others. Expressing deep concern over the emerging menace, Chief Minister Hemant Soren promised the people of the State to take strict steps at the earliest to weed out the problem.
Soren, who was in Bokaro on Saturday to attend a cultural function, said that terrorism was a national threat and Jharkhand could not remain unaffected with it. Reacting to the recent Jharkhand links with terror activities, Soren admitted that Jharkhand is become a safe zone of the terrorist organisation. “Needs stringent steps to curb this emerging menace,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Jharkhand had been focusing more on eradicating Naxalism and the focus was more on Naxal related activities than terrorism. However, recent incidents had shown that there had been a spurt in terrorism related activities across the State, he said. Soren ensured appropriate steps would be taken to curb the menace in a high-level meeting along with the Central Government officials.
Notably, Jharkhand which known as strongholds of Naxal rebels recently bared links with terror outfits. The arrest of Md Imtiyaz and earlier Manzar Imam (in March 2013) by NIA in connection to Patna and Hyderabad blasts respectively, had brought the planned location of Jharkhand into focus.
Before leaving Bokaro, Soren promised to announce several Government policies sanctioned for the rural mass on Statehood day.
As the chief guest on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that culture is our legacy and we should try to preserve it. “People belonging to several religions and culture live in the country with unity and harmony. This is our identity and this makes a nation stronger.”
Soren stressed on organising such cultural programs on a grand scale and said that BSl must come forward for organising events like these. The CM performed puja with traditional rituals and also unveiled a telephone directory.
