To make State capital free from narcotics and illegal trade of liquor, Ranchi Police have issued a ‘Whatsapp’ number on which any complaint related to it could be registered. Also a nodal officer has been appointed to keep a tab on the action taken in this regard.

“Any complaint related to illegal trade of liquor, ganja or other narcotics in the city could be registered on the phone number 8877030868, against which immediate action will be taken against the culprits,” said SP City Aman Kumar. Besides calling, any information, photograph or other details could be sent through WhattsApp on the same number, he added. Remarkably, Excise Commissioner Bhor Singh Yadav had also released a toll free number appealing people to give information against the illegal trade without any fear.

“For quick action, a nodal officer has also been appointed who will keep a tab on the complaints and the action taken in this regard,” said Kumar. He will also update and follow the complainants with regard to the action taken against the complaints sent on the number, he added. Though regular action was being taken against the complaints coming to the Police, no follow-up was being properly due to lack of any dedicated officer, he added.

“Appointing a nodal officer will make him accountable putting all responsibilities on him to quick action and follow-up against any complaint registered on the numver,” said the City SP. In addition to that, intensive checking drive is being conducted all over the City looking during which through checkup of the vehicle and the person driving it is being done following any suspicion over it, he added.

“All Police Stations have also been alerted to keep a close eye on every suspicious vehicle or person and do not hesitate to check in case of any doubt,” said the SP.
