In a bid to extend a helping hand to Road Traffic Accident victims, Ranchi Traffic Police in Association with Orchid Medical Centre have taken a unique initiative to position round the clock Ambulance service — Hello Ambulance for those who meet with an accident on the roads in Ranchi.

“Initially it has been started on the four major roads where one Ambulance will be placed round the clock on each of it, manned with a driver and a traffic constable equipped with a wireless and will rush to the spot as soon as it receives a message of any accident and will carry the person to the nearest hospital,” said SP (Traffic) Sanjay Ranjan Singh. It will be extended to other roads of the State Capital also very soon, added the Traffic SP.

The four roads identified initially are — Main Road, Harmu Road, Ratu Road and Kokar Road, he said.

Singh said that organisations and NGOs have started turning up to donate Ambulances for the purpose. Orchid Medical Centre was the first to come forward and offer an Ambulance which will be placed on one of these roads of the State Capital, he said.

“Talks are still on with other organizations and individual that has shown their interest in the project,” said the SP. These Ambulances will be placed at a particular location on each of the roads and rush in case of any emergency situation to carry the accident victim to the nearest hospital, he added.

In addition to that, Ranchi Traffic Police is also planning to make first aid training mandatory for every traffic constable who could proved to be helpful for the accident victims in the hour of need.
