Hectic preparations on for Guv's visit to NPU

Hectic preparations are on for January 23rd visit of Governor cum chancellor of the universities of State Droupadi Murmu to Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) here.

University sources said that the Officer on Special Duty (judicial) in Governor’s Secretariat, Jharkhand Nalin Kumar has conveyed the consent of the Governor for January 23rd visit in Daltonganj. The NPU had made a request for her visit. Her Excellency will be the chief guest of the 7th establishment day of this university which came into existence on January17, 2009.

Vice Chancellor of the NP university AN Ojha said, “The university is excited to have the graceful and august presence of Her Excellency here on January 23.  As a token of honour and grace the university has taken an unanimous decision to defer its January 17 Establishment Day function to January 23, the day Her Excellency will be the chief guest of the function.”

However the space crunch hits university, which functions from rented guest house of Palamu  zila parishad for `49,000 per month. It will have to struggle hard for an adequate and safe venue for the chancellor.

Present campus and building of this university is most inadequate, where even a gathering of just 200 people will be a highly congested affair as during Her Excellency’s visit  there will be a fleet of vehicles which will further choke the route to this university said sources.

A team of university officials led by pro vice chancellor Bijay Singh held parleys with the Commandant of the 134 battalion of the CRPF SK linda here and sought his help for the temporary engagement of the GlA college ground where in one part of this ground are the offices and other establishments of this 134 battalion of the CRPF. Sources said the very presence of the 134 battalion of the CRPF in the GlA college ground has not only increased the sense of security and safety on the campus here but also this para military force CRPF lends a helping hand to the GlA college and the university when ever  exigency so demands.

Pro vice chancellor told The Pioneer, “The CRPF whom we are so proud to have with us in our vicinity has agreed for our temporary engagement of the  open portion of the  ground  for January 23rd and the university on its part will put up  view cutters to contain the rest of the large chunk of this ground, where the offices/ quarters of the jawans of the CRPF exist. This will keep them out of the view/sight and reach of the people coming for the programme.
