The South-West (SW) parts of Jharkhand which includes East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawan are most likely to receive heavy shower in the next 48 hours as per the prediction of MET Observatory Centre – Ranchi. The weather bulletin released on Monday suggested that SW monsoon will remain active over the State for a few more days this week.

“looking at the present situation and formation of air circulation at Bay of Bengal, the heavy rain is expected to lash Southern and SW parts of the State extensively excluding other parts of the State for another two days. However, a few parts of Central Jharkhand may also receive heavy rainfall due to the well marked low pressure over Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Odisha,” said, senior official of Ranchi Metrological Centre, Upendra Srivastava on Monday.

Srivastava further stated that according to the meteorological parameters, the State has witnessed a fairly good distribution of rainfall this season after the advancement of SW monsoon in the mid July.

“Though the State is yet to breach the rain deficit level but the distribution of rainfall across the State is quite good. If meteorological parameter is considered, maximum 19 per cent rain deficit is categorized normal. As per our prediction there is a possibility of formulation of one active circulation in the next week which will further result in rainfall covering different parts of the State,” Srivastava further added.

Meanwhile, the rainfall statistics released by MET Observatory Centre – Ranchi on Monday suggested that the State by far had received 815 mm rainfall against the normal 610.6 mm rainfall registering (–) 25 per cent deficit.
