Heavy downpours cripple normal life in Bokaro

Published on:

Heavy downpour since past 72 hours created a trail of destruction across Bokaro district. With power disrupted, trees uprooted, traffic snarls, more than ten small bridges continue to be submerged in rain water.

Several mud houses, roof tops as well as parts of the concrete building were collapsed while incessant rainfalls washed out many connecting roads as well as three small pools in the district were reported.

Rain also disrupted transportation and communications. The showers were so heavy that township areas of the city were inundated. About 3 feet rain water lodged in the center market and several spots on the Highway; rainwater also enters into the shops and houses in the low-lying areas of Chas and sector areas.  Prolonged power cuts created mayhem among the residents, forced the people to live in darkness.
