Health worker, police fling charges at each other in Palamu

A health worker and an ASI of police both posted at Satbarwa sang different tunes and flung charges at each other.

Sources said the different tunes are the resultant of heavy duty in the wake of coronavirus pandemic where only the health worker and the police are most visible and its strain and stress are now catching up with both of these services.

Sources said a health worker, an ANM (Name withheld) posted in the CHC Satbarwa, has alleged an ASI of police Satbarwa police station L B Rajak has beaten her husband when she went to institutional quarantine centre Satbarwa with her husband on the night of April 22 where had come 5 more new inmates to be lodged there on that night.

The ANM has further alleged the ASI put pressure on her to remain at this quarantine centre where is already lodged a woman inmate too.

The ANM said her husband objected to this as she maintained she had done that day duty of April 22 from 9 AM to 5 PM and so there was no point for her to be there again at night on April 22/23 at this centre where were by then 10 males and one female only.

On being asked as to why she took with her duty register of this quarantine centre home to which this ANM said “ I am the only custodian of it. I am the only ANM there. How can I leave this record there at the centre?”

On the other hand ASI of police L B Rajak said that no such episode of any beating by him took place and it is all for the better accommodation and care of the inmates of this quarantine centre that on that night there were exchanges of words between us.

The ASI said the ANM after her duty in the evening of April 22 took away with her the duty register of this quarantine centre and when 5 new inmates came here on the same night her presence was needed as the duty register was with her and she was to make entry of the arrival of these 5 new comers.

The ASI said as there was already one woman inmate quarantining at this centre it was felt that this ANM should also be with her as with these 5 new comers here the total number of inmates at this centre had then gone to 11.

The ASI said he was just asking this ANM to be at the quarantine centre when her husband was shouting at everyone there citing rules and regulations of duty hour wherein to calm down him he was contained but not beaten up at all.

Asked the ANM had alleged you were not in uniform but in half pant and T shirt to which the ASI said “ I was taking my night meals after taking off my uniform and when I learnt that 5 new inmates have reached the quarantine centre by an ambulance I did not wait for any moment and rushed towards the centre to see things there.”

Asked if this duty register had not been with the ANM and thee at the centre then even thisexchange of words would have taken place to which the ASI said “ Entry of new arrival at the quarantine centre is to be made by all means and this register was then with the ANM.”

Reminded that you locked up the outer grill gate of this centre when the ANM was inside to which ASI said escape from the centre is heard very often and this was a precautionary measure and not any obstructive measure for any one.

SP Palamu, Ajay Linda said SDPO, Sadar Sandip Kr Gupta has been asked to look into the matter. Police and health workers are working together to fight coronavirus and there is no problem at all.
