Health services remain crippled in State due to doctors’ strike

After the fatal attack on Orthopedic, Dr Anchal Kumar a couple of days ago, anger has increased among the doctors of the State. For this reason, on the joint call of the Indian Medical Association and the Jharkhand Health Service Association, doctors across the State have gone on a one-day strike. However, emergency services and treatment of admitted patients have been kept strike-free.

The strike started from 6:00 am on Wednesday which will continue till 6:00 am on Wednesday. OPD of Sadar Hospital RIMS and private hospitals have been closed. Doctors are sitting on dharna near Rimsonian Hall.

Jharkhand Chapter IMA Secretary, Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh said that doctors are being targeted these days and excessive comments are made on the doctors. “Civil Surgeon and Deputy Superintendent and DPM were abused and beaten up by public representatives in Garhwa. Sometimes the Hazaribagh, DDC misbehaves with doctors and takes him out by holding his collar. The Civil Surgeon is threatened by Jamtara local MLA. Dr Ajay Chowdhary was assaulted in Petwar. Lohardaga Civil Surgeon, Dr Sanjay Kumar was threatened with death. After the death of Dr Sourav of RIMS, the family was treated with step-motherly treatment by the Government. We never want to back down from our duty and duty but we are continuously being attacked and the Government is sleeping,” he added.

On the other hand, the IMA Women's Wing chairperson, Dr Bharti Kashyap said that the Government is giving step-motherly treatment to us. “For years our demand has been ignored. There has been a fatal attack on doctors. This exposed the security system of the state. After the death of Dr. Hajra and Dr Sourav of Dhanbad, financial assistance was sought from the Government but the Government did not pay attention to it. Doctors have been demanding for years that the Medical Protection Act is applicable all over India except Jharkhand, why so. Why is this act not there in Jharkhand keeping 50 bed hospitals and single clinics free from Clinical Establishment Act in Jharkhand on the lines of UP and Haryana,” he added.

Meanwhile, over 700 doctors of various government and private hospitals in Jamshedpur today observed strike demanding implementation of the Medical Protection Act in the state. Doctors of all city-based hospitals stayed away from work. However, the emergency services in all hospitals remained operational.
Government doctors assembled at the MGM Medical College and Hospital in Sakchi where they took out a protest rally demanding immediate implementation of the Medical Protection Act.The strike led to the woes of patients  as many were deprived of treatment for their various ailments
