The State Government on Wednesday extended the Health Safety Week (Lockdown) restrictions in Jharkhand for another week till 6 AM on May 13. The decision was taken in the wake of rising cases of Covid-19 in a meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
According to a notification issued by the Disaster Management Division of the Home, Prison and Disaster Management Department of Government of Jharkhand signed by Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh the restrictions under the Health Safety Week will continue till May 13.
The Government, though, has made a small amendment this time extending the office hours of State Government offices to normal office hours and not till 2 pm. The notification has been addressed to all district administrations for compliance.
Meanwhile, the SDMA, today took other important decisions for migrant labourers, who are continuously returning to the State. In a separate notification issued by the Disaster Management Division of the Home, Prison and Disaster Management Department it has been stated that there is an influx of large number of migrant labourers to Jharkhand.
The notification suggests that the influx of migrant labourers poses a huge risk of coronavirus infection in the rural Jharkhand and it is anticipated that more and more people will come to State in the coming days. Therefore, it is necessary to take urgent steps to prevent spread of Covid-19 in rural areas of the State.
The SDMA in its order has stated that all migrant workers coming to Jharkhand will be tested (RAT) on their arrival. Also, those migrant labourers, who test negative, will be kept in seven day institutional quarantine facilities to be set up at the appropriate level by the respective district administrations. They shall be tested again after seven days before their departure from the facility.
Those migrant labourers, who test positive in any of the two tests, shall be kept managed under protocol set by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, it further stated. According to the notification the containment measures and national directives shall remain in force across the country till May 31, 2021.
