Health Minister, Banna Gupta reached Sadar Hospital, Ranchi on Tuesday for a surprise inspection. After inspection, Gupta told the hospital management that all kinds of flaws should be removed immediately and patients should have all the required facilities.
Gupta visited the Covid ward wearing a PPE kit. During this time he also spoke to the admitted patients there. He also assured the patients that their troubles would be overcome immediately.
There are currently more than 250 patients admitted to the Covid ward of Sadar Hospital.
There are 36 staff on duty, that too in the shift. Due to this, doctors are not able to give regular time to all patients. The patient told that they have been admitted for three days, only one day the doctor has come and seen them and the rest of the time, they are taking medicines by asking health workers.
In the first phase of Corona infection, 60 ventilators were arranged at Sadar Hospital, but not a single Anesthetist has been deputed till now. Because of this, patients are not getting the benefit of a ventilator. The Civil Surgeon had recently demanded some doctors from the health department. After this, doctors of Pharmology and Medicine were deputed to Sadar Hospital. However, no ventilator is operable in them.
Meanwhile, a daughter, who lost her father due to Covid, complained to Gupta about the lack of facility and care provided by the hospital management so that her father died. Her father came to Ranchi Sadar Hospital for treatment from Hazaribagh.
When her father’s health deteriorated, her family brought him from Hazaribagh to Ranchi. They wandered from hospital to hospital, but they could not find a bed. Finally they reached Sadar Hospital. Here the Minister was inspecting.
Gupta sought inquiry reports within 48 hours from Ranchi Civil Surgeon. The hospital management has to reply under which circumstances the patient died. The Minister said that he is concerned about the health of the people of Jharkhand during the Corona period. So regardless of his health, Corona went to the Corona ward to meet the patients, he added.
“I am concerned about the life of the people of the State, only for this reason I have left the election and have come to serve the people,” he added.
