The department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Health Map Diagnostic Private limited which is a joint venture of two entities-- Bangalore based Manipal and Delhi based Philips—for running Radiology test centres at the three medical college-cum-hospitals and all district hospitals in Jharkhand.
As part of the agreement the diagnostic company would set up state-of-the-art facilities at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi; MGMCH, Jamshedpur and PMCH, Dhanbad. The centres that would add to the existing infrastructure of the three hospitals would be manned by specialist doctors and technicians deployed by the company. The MoU would remain in effect for 10-years.
Significantly, the government has decided that the rates for going for Radiology test would not exceed rates mentioned by Central Government Health Scheme whereas the State Government would bear the cost of test for below poverty line patients. Notably, the government will pay `32.51-lakh in the first year which will be incremented by 6.5 per cent per annum whereas electricity for running the test unit will be provided free of cost.
The company was selected by International Finance Corporation after carefully examining the profile of diagnostic companies.
