Health alert for ILI and Sari in Palamu

Published on:

Health alert has come this winter. It is in the backdrop of the surge of the severe respiratory infection in China.

There were 6 or 7 students of Garhwa district in Jharkhand who had to leave their medical studies there in China to be back in India owing to the Covid pandemic then.

Winter has come to Jharkhand in full bloom  and with it are ILI which means influenza like illness and Sari which stands for severe acute respiratory infection.

Palamu has both the episodes ILI and Sari. In rural areas it is more which remains undiagnosed. A running nose is not all. Protection of the lungs is important. ILI and Sari are the precursors to pneumonia.

Medical services in the OPD for respiratory infection or disease are wanted in the MMCH Daltonganj.

Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said "We have alerted our community health centres to be vigilant about any sudden increase in ILI and Sari. Patients must be taken care of fully. In no case patients should feel ignored or neglected."

The Civil Surgeon agreed that winter spells bring in more cold driven infection to children. He asked the families not to fall in the trap of any fake doctor but come straight to the government health centres or hospitals where their children will be most safely treated by experienced doctors.

District programme manager Deepak Kumar Gupta said under instructions of the MD (mission director) NHM Alok Trivedi, IAS,  government of Jharkhand mock drill of all the PSA (pressure swing adsorption) plants was conducted this November 24.

Similar mock drill of the PSA plant was carried out in the sadar hospital Latehar said Ved Prakash.

Beds are being readied to meet any exigency arising out of the respiratory infection.

Ventilators are being put in order. Appropriate medicines are being arranged, said DPM Deepak Kumar Gupta.

Gupta said ANMs and other paramedics would be reoriented to tackle the outbreak of ILI and Sari if it occurs.
