Former Minister Yogendra Sao along with his wife and sitting MlA of Badkagaon Nirmala Devi and his aide Mantu Soni were granted bail by Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday on the ground that they were protesting in a democratic way against forceful acquisition of their ancestral land.

“All the three persons arrested after Badkagaon incident have been granted bail,” said petitioner’s advocate Amit Das. Sao, wanted in connection with the violence on October 1 at Barkagaon in Hazaribagh where four persons were killed, was arrested on October 4 by the police. The incident occurred when the police were taking away Congress MlA Nirmala Devi after arresting her from site of protest against coal mining project of NTPC in Chirudih village under Barkagaon police station. Police had opened fire after Nirmala Devi was freed by a mob in Dadi Kala village and an Additional SP and the Circle Officer were abducted and assaulted by the mob.
