Taking a strong note over the dispute erupted in Ranchi Municipal Corporation between Mayor Asha lakra and Municipal Commissioner Prashant Kumar, the Jharkhand High Court on Monday asked lakra to be present in the Court physically on April 18. The division bench of Chief Justice PK Mohanty and Justice Ananda Sen were hearing a PIl filed by Dewan Indraneel Sinha seeking judicial intervention to curb breeding of mosquitoes in the State Capital.

“The Court has asked Mayor to be present physically before it on April 18 while the Municipal Commissioner has to file an affidavit on or before April 17 depicting in it that how many projects in RMC are held up,” said petitioner’s Advocate Rajiv Kumar. The dispute between the RMC Mayor and Municipal Commissioner was put into the notice of the High Court while it was hearing the PIl filed by Deawan Indraneel Sinha on the issue of the outbreak of mosquitoes in Ranchi, added Kumar.

Meanwhile, in another decision, Court of Justice Anant Bijay Singh on Monday granted anticipatory bails to former BJP Chief Tala Marandi and his son Munna Marandi in a case related to Munna marrying a minor girl. Their petition was earlier rejected by a lower court in Godda.

Munna Marandi has been accused of sexually exploiting a girl for over two years and then marrying another minor girl. The girl filed a complaint at a court in Godda district alleging that Munna Marandi exploited her sexually for two years and had promised to marry her, and then went back on his word.
