Jharkhand High Court on Friday asked the State Government how former Chief Minister of Bihar and RJD chief, Lalu Prasad was shifted from the Paying Ward of RIMS to Director’s Official Residence (Kelly Bungalow) and then from Director Bungalow to the Paying Ward. Lalu is serving a sentence in the fodder scam case.
The High Court asked the State Government that it was whose decision to shift Lalu Yadav from the paying ward to the Director’s bungalow and then by whose order he was shifted from the bungalow to the ward. The court also sought information about the appointment process of the serviceman to be given to Lalu Prasad. The Government has been directed to submit a report in the High Court by December 18 on all these matters.
The State Government informed the Court that an SOP has been made for meeting the prisoners. Under this, security and the process of meeting the prisoners has been clarified. On this matter, the Court also directed to present the details of SOP on December, 18.
The list of those who met Lalu Prasad in three months was sought by the Court from the Inspector General of Prisons and Superintendent of Birsa Munda Jail, Ranchi. The Court gave this instruction on Friday after hearing both the reports.
The Jharkhand High Court had expressed its displeasure at not being given a report on following the jail manual. The Court of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh asked the Inspector General of Prisons of the State and the Superintendent of Birsa Munda Central Prison to show cause as to why the information was not given even after the Court order while the copy of the court order has been made available to them on time.
Citing the growing influence of Covid-19, Prasad was first shifted to the Director’s Bungalow (Kelly Bangla) from Ward No 11 of the Paying Ward on September 5. Thereafter, on November 26, he was shifted from Kelly Bungalow back to Paying Ward’s Ward No-11, after an audio of Lalu allegedly trying to influence a BJP MLA of Bihar during Bihar Assembly Speaker’s election went viral.
