Hazaribagh PHC suffers, needs fair treatment

Published on:

Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital has got ISO 9001 certificate. Things have changed here during last 18-24 months which one can easily notice after entering into the campus. But in Hazaribagh town a government hospital is still in 19th century era. It needs treatment to treat the patients.

To provide the health services to the remote villagers of the sadar block of Hazaribagh district, the administration has opened a Primary Health Centre (PHC) near block office. But since its inception no doctor has turned up at this centre.

The PHC has been opened on Ranchi- Patna road in the building of family planning department. Two doctors were deputed by the district administration, but the patient always had to return empty handed as the doctors never turned up. Doctors were changed after continuous complaints but to no avail.

The hospital has facility of ambulance and Mamta Vahan as well but hardly any patient has been benefitted. But the vehicles can surely be seen roaming in the town used for other personal works of satff.

There is no arrangement for the basic nursing materials and medicines at the centre. Whenever a patient needs nursing they have to purchase bandage and other medicines from the market. The medicine which is being supplied by the Sadar Hospital or the State Government exhausts so quickly that one will always find the store empty.

The government has provided free medicine for some diseases through the WHO (World Health Organisation). But no medicine is available in the PHC. One of the villagers of Sindoor village Sandeep Kumar said that they had visited so many times this Primary Health Center but we have never seen any doctor on duty.

Villager Sunil Mehta of Meru said that we have never availed services of this centre. Whenever the villagers visited this center for treatment they always found it closed.

There is no arrangement for institutional delivery at the centre. Some days ago when a central team had visited this PHC then the civil surgeon was instructed to provide all the basic amenities to the centre but still this center is waiting for its treatment to enter into 21st century.
