Giridih police alongwith Cobra battalion and other team of security men consisting of the CRPF on Thursday morning entered the forest area of Parasnath in Giridih and launched a massive combing operation against Maoists.
One hardcore member of Jharkhand Avon committee Sunder Marandi was arrested at Kairi jharna near Parasnath area under the Pirtard police station of the district here on Thursday during the combing operation .Superintendent of Police Karanti Kumar said that the Maoist was involved in killing several police personnel and was close associate of Ramdayal Mahto .Though there were no reports of any untoward incidents during the operation. The input have warned the police of possible Maoist attacks, too, keeping the personnel on toes.
The Naxal have been trying to reclaim a foothold in the area for some time now. The police have recently held a series of operations in Parasnath and Pirtard area. They are penetrating deep into the forests in order to keep the rebels on the move.Giving details the SP said the arrested hardcore Maoist Sunder Marandi, an area commander who had let loose a region of terror in Giridih and Hazaribagh.He was arrested from Kari Jharna under the Pirtard police station along with incriminatory documents.
Marandi was wanted in several Naxal-related cases in Giridih and Hazaribagh districts alone in addition to other cases.
