'Hara Bhara' stages dramas for PTR's welfare

Hara Bhara’, a drama troupe, is holding series of street plays in villages falling across tiger reserve Palamu to create greater awareness among the people about wildlife. Beginning on Sarhul day, the group has so far conducted plays showed in at least a dozen villages such as Moondoo, Bareysarn, Mayapur, labher Maromar Kotam etc.

Field Director MP Singh said, “This is to create awareness among the villagers to rise to save and protect wild life of the PTR. There was an event when an elected member had promised to speak to villagers not to kill or hunt any wild life for meat but when the elected member reached the mike he just skipped this issue.”

He added said, “I was stunned but I did not lose heart and reminded the gentleman his promise that he had made earlier in the show during a chat with me and then only the elected member half heartedly asked the villagers to save wild life.”

The Nukkad nataks about conservation and protection of wild life are of 60 minute duration. DFO buffer PTR Mahalinga said ‘Hara Bhara’ is a troupe raised by a senior CPI Ml leader Birju Ram. The actors sing and dance to the accompaniment of ear pleasing music.

Sources said its effect would have been double had it been staged in the evening time. PTR officials are desperate to save tiger reserve from man-made fire episodes.  Nukkad nataks have themes of poaching, felling of trees, destruction of habitat.

Sources said in its anti poaching show a poacher is shown to have a change of heart when he surrenders his illicit gun to the ranger taking a pledge not to harm or kill any wild life.
