New SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha wants first to set his constabulary and down the line officials to be more sensitive and sensible towards law abiding citizens here.
On being asked how he would deal with ASIs, many of whom said to be lacking professionalism, mahtha said, "This Monday morning I got directives from our DGP D K Pandey Sir. He asked me to conduct ‘hand holding’ for the new ASIs. I will be doing here. Inspector, SDPO and myself will do this hand holding of the new ASIs. They would be given the much needed training to deal with the masses. They would be taught the nuances of investigation of cases."
The SP said that he would ask offcials to first start saying ‘Namaskar’ to callers, who are generally appear skeptical towards police and remain a bit afraid. "I have done this at places of my previous postings. It has paid rich dividends. let come new year and January and you will see entry in Station Diary will be a prompt affair. There will be no back log of it. No police officer will find entry to be put off for any length of time. If it is right now the entry has to be done in the Station Diary," he said.
On being asked whether there will be an upswing of crime after the end of cash crunch, the SP said, "Everyone is too concerned with this scenario.
I too have my eyes on this. As for now it is all vigil every where. Palamu is witnessing what the whole country is witnessing. The task before us is to meet the expectations of the populace as expectations just go high and high and meeting them with available resources is itself a daunting task."
